Company magazine – Blogging special

CoverApril10 As you already know, Company magazine is a firm favourite with the Miss Selfridge team and after the successful launch of it's bi-annual style magazine, High-Street Edit, we thought they couldn't  impress us anymore.  Then the April issue came along and we realised how wrong we were!  On sale from Saturday 13th March, it's a blogging bonanza.

The entire issue is dedicated to the fast-paced world inhabited by fashion bloggers, and of course they couldn't complete the issue without a word from one of the top bloggers here at Miss S, the ever stylish Ally Horrax!

Ally-company1

Ally reveals all her secrets, including exactly what it's like to work here at Miss S HQ and how a passion for style and writing can turn into the job of your dreams.  To get Ally's look from the shoot, team flirty florals with Victorian inspired lace up shoe boots.

Lindsay Lohan a no-show at Emanuel Ungaro

Lindsay Lohan is perhaps not best known for her reliability, or in fact, her designer clothing know-how but that didn’t stop the Emanuel Ungaro brand from taking the star under their wing as artistic director last year. And unfortunately for the French fashion house, the collaboration between the pair seems to have been one huge flop. When [...]

Armani proves a winning choice at the Oscars

With the Oscars being one of the biggest events on the designer clothing world’s calendar each year, we here at Secret Sales HQ were eagerly awaiting the reports of who pulled out all the stops on the red carpet. While I would have quite possibly given my right arm to be there, unfortunately I had to [...]

Women place ‘too much pressure on looking like celebs’

We here at Secret Sales HQ are forever pouring over fashion magazines in the hope of emulating the clothing trends of our favourite celebrities (Carey Mulligan is the number one choice for me at the moment).
But while we are fully aware that Hollywood stars have teams of stylists picking out hoards of fabulous designer clothes [...]

Alexander McQueen wins prestigious fashion award

There is no doubt that since the wonderful Alexander McQueen passed away last month, there has been a huge void left in the designer clothing world.
But it’s good to see that his memory lives on, as he has now been awarded with a prestigious fashion accolade at the Brit Insurance Design Awards for his spring/summer [...]

Red Carpet Style

Rexfeatures_1137440a-Oscars Last night was a very busy night in Hollywood.  The hottest stars flocked to the Kodak Theatre to attend the biggest awards ceremony in the film industry's calendar, the Oscars.  Every year, they are home to fashion hits and of course, the odd faux pas.  But luckily, this year's attendees excelled themselves in the style stakes!

It was no surprise that full length gowns were the order of the day, but we were more impressed with the colour palette of choice - romantic and dreamy nude tones.  Take style inspiration from Miley Cyrus and Amanda Seyfried who chose barely-there shades of peach, cream and shimmering silver in deliciously delicate fabrics.

To get a touch of Oscar magic in your everyday wardrobe, wear your favourite skinny jeans with nude heels and a neutral top featuring embellishment or ruffle detailing.

Decorated Denim

Fearne Cotton always has her finger on the fashion pulse when it comes to casual style.  She knows that denim is a cool way to work this season's girlie prints

Stick with patterned jeans and a printed tee to steal Fearne's style, or really make a statement in a denim dress or bodycon skirt.

Owning your clothing is so last season

As you all know, I have got a wardrobe that is absolutely stacked to the hills with designer clothes, shoes and bags and there is nothing that pleases me more than trawling round the boutiques on a Saturday in the hope of adding to my collection.
But it would seem that my little hobby is going [...]

Paris Fashion Week goes gothic

If you thought that you’d said goodbye to weird gothic trends when you were 13 then I’ve got some bad news . . . it appears that they have made something of a designer clothing comeback on the catwalks of Paris Fashion Week.
While I usually turn to the French capital for the vast majority of [...]

Would you bare your boobs in the name of fashion?

We all know that designer clothing has gone a bit bonkers of late - underwear has become outerwear, double denim is the height of fashion and crikey, even the bum bag has staged a comeback. And while we here at Secret Sales HQ are pretty grounded in terms of our fashion sense, we do have to [...]
